Potatoes Au Gratin
Cheese Life
I have been a fan of the box cheese and potatoes (I know, don't judge me), because of the ease of cooking it. This recipe started off inspired by the box and because I had some left over potatoes from the Cast Iron Steak Date Night meal I cooked. Click here to check out that blog post.
This is such an easy recipe to follow. One of my favorite things about it is, everything can be cooked in one baking dish, making clean up easy.
The measurements of the ingredients will depend on taste and the number of potatoes you use.
Use this recipe as a guide and add your own twist to it based on your liking!
Ingredients:
Baby Potatoes
Salt
Cheddar Cheese
Milk
Black Pepper (Optional)
Basil (Optional)
Flour (Optional)
Prep:
In a sauce pan, combine milk and cheese until cheese is melted through. Add in black pepper to taste
Take 1(tbsp) of flour and some of the milk and cheese mixture and combine in a separate small bowl until flour is dissolved
Add the mixture back into the sauce pan (I do this to thicken up the cheese sauce so it is not as watery. (Optional)
Remove milk and cheese mixture from heat
Potato Work:
Slice potatoes into round slices, season to taste (I like to use Salt and Pepper and a special blend of All Purpose Seasoning) and place in a buttered baking dish
I like to layer in the cheddar cheese and sauce blend one layer at a time. Place in one layer of potatoes, add cheese, then add some of the milk and cheese sauce. Add a second layer of potatoes, add cheese, add in some additional milk and cheese sauce. Repeat
Once you reach the top, only add cheese and I like to sprinkle a little bit of basil for additional color on top
Oven Work:
Bake covered for 30 minutes on 350 degrees
Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown
Let rest once cooked and out of the oven
Serve Warm
I hope you enjoy!
