Hydration Essentials - Eczema Friendly

Message to my skincare products: Be Intense. Be Bold. Be Hydrating.

My Skin Condition:

  • Dryness

  • Itchy

  • Prone to Eczema

I am always in the market for products that promise to be hydrating and products that promise to soothe my itchy dry skin.

I first discovered First Aid Beauty a few years ago via their product Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask. The name sounded amazing to me back then and it was love at first application.

One of the key ingredients of the Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask is Colloidal Oatmeal, which from my own personal research is said to help soothe eczema. I was a little skeptical at first because of the price point. A 2oz bottle will set you back $24 USD. I can say, for me it has been worth the price. This has been a repeat purchase product for me. I have found it effective at calming my eczema flare ups and it gives me some relief of the dryness! This is a 10 minute mask! I was very impressed with the performance of this product after the 10 minute application.

First Aid Beauty has truly been a GEM when it comes to soothing my skin!

I wanted to try a few other products from this brand because of the success I had with the Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask.

Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration:

The Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration adds a nice layer of moisture and helps to soothe my eczema. A 6oz jar will set you back $34 USD. While I love the layer of moisture it adds to my skin, because of the price point I reserve this cream on days when my skin is irritated, rather then for everyday use.

There are some over the counter creams I think work just as well as the Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration. Is it with price? Yes and No. I like it and I have repurchased this product but if you are on a budget there are some alternatives, that I think could work just as well.

(I wrote a brand name versus drug store comparison on some other eczema friendly products. Check out that review here.)

Ginger and Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask:

The combination of ginger and turmeric in the Ginger and Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask leaves my skin feeling soft immediately after rinsing.

At first application, I was a little nervous because it made my skin tingle. I thought for sure I was going to have a reaction! The tingle I would assume was from the ginger and after it subsided I started to really get into the texture of the mask.

The texture felt like applying honey to the skin. Sticky but so moisturizing!

Once the mask was completely rinsed off, it felt like I applied moisturizer. A 4oz jar will set you back $32 USD. It was worth the price for me and I will probably repurchase this product.

There are a few new arrivals from the brand I wanted to check out. I started with a product with a familiar name but slightly different packaging.

Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration: (Red Cap)

Based on the description from the website. Under main ingredients the biggest difference between the white cap version and the red cap version is the ingredient Ceramides. Per their website ceramides is said to "Strengthen(s) the skin barrier and moisturize(s) skin"

First impressions:

This version is a lot thicker then its predecessor and the moisture on this version is better.

I purchased the smaller version to try and a 2oz container will run you $14 USD.

I did find the price point to be on the expensive side. While I did prefer the texture of the red cap compared to the white cap, I will probably not repurchase this one because of the price point. I do not want to take away from the product because it does do the job at being calming for the skin so that is plus in my book. For me personally, there are some other products I think moisturizes and soothes my eczema at a lower price point.

Final Thoughts:

One of my favorite things about this brand is their commitment to providing alcohol free products. I love the transparency of their website! Each product has an up front list of active ingredients and what product is suited for which skin condition

The quality of First Aid Beauty products is fantastic! From my experience, the products mean what they say and get the job done.

There are a few products I have repurchased and will continue to repurchase from the brand. I look forward to trying more from them in the future.
